These Louis XIV Coquille Knife holders are an elegant model created by Christofle in 1925, probably to complete the Louis XIV Coquille Berain flatware set created in 1921. Knife rests appeared in the 19th century and became more and more common for family dinners where the cutlery was not changed between courses.
